Matthew Perry’s $20M Buy of Bachir Oueida’s Listing was Westwood/Century City’s priciest sale of 2017

The Westwood/Century City area owes much of its history to Edwin and Harold Sans, who not only sold the city the 375-acre plot of land that would become UCLA at a discounted rate in 1925 but also developed Westwood Village.

Students, families and celebrities all flocked to the city in the following decades, resulting in a housing shortage that’s seen the area grow vertically more than horizontally. Now, luxury condos attract some of the area’s most prominent residents.

In 2017, there were 14 combined single-family home and condominium sales of $5 million or more in the Westwood/Century City area, including a pair of deals north of $15 million. There were 139 transactions of $2 million or more last year, up from 137 the previous year.

The full-floor penthouse has more than 9,300 square feet of living space.

$20 million – West Century Drive

Four of the five most expensive real estate sales in Westwood/Century City last year involved the Century building, a 42-story luxury high-rise designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects.

Topping the list was Matthew Perry’s July purchase of a full-floor unit in the building. The penthouse has more than 9,300 square feet of living space and wraparound terraces with views of the city, mountains and ocean.

Living spaces lined with floor-to-ceiling windows include a center-island kitchen and a formal dining room that seats 25.

The massive master suite features hardwood floors and multiple sitting areas.

Bachir Oueida of Douglas Elliman was the listing agent. Greg Holcomb of Pacific Union International represented the buyer.
